R.I.P Chris Lighty: Legendary Music Mogul Passes Away

It's a sad day in hip hop as legendary music mogul Chris Lighty has passed away. Lighty may not have been so much in the for front in comparison to other hip hop moguls like Diddy or even Russell Simmons (both of whom Lighty worked with) so for those who are unsure who this man was here's a brief background. Lighty was the founder and chief executive of Violator Management/Brand Asset Group, and has been an integral part of the music scene since 1988, when he joined Russell Simmons and Lyor Cohen at Rush Management. Violator management have worked with at least one of your favourite rappers the list strings from Missy Elliot to 50 Cent to Nas to LL Cool J, Mobb Deep and more recently Diggy Simmons.

According to the NY Daily News the cause of death appears to be suicide via a bullet to the head, The police are still investigating as of course murders can be staged as suicides but we'll have to wait and see. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family and close friends of Christ Lighty a true jewel in the treasure box we call hip hop. Gone but never forgotten, Rest In Perfect Peace and thank you for the inspiration.
